Pen on smooth 270 gsm bristol paper, 9" x 12", 2026 Signed lower left — Rene Juan de la Cruz, 02/26

Four colors of ink. Black, red, blue, and green, move across smooth heavyweight bristol with the ease of a language spoken fluently for decades. No paint. No ground. Just the white surface and the line, unmediated, direct, exactly as the hand intended.

What materializes is a dimension. Populated by an accumulation of beings, part human, part fantastical, fully themselves, that exist somewhere between this world and somewhere the mind invented. They are not portraits. They are not symbols. They are suggestions. Figurative abstractions of the human form rendered in the artist's DNA strokes, each one resolving itself in a handful of marks that feel inevitable rather than chosen.

Look closer and the abstract visual poetry reveals itself. Happy mouths showing full teeth. Crowns and halos sitting on heads that might be faces or might be something else entirely. Orbits wrapping around eyes that look back at you with cautious warmth. Hearts. Love. The full vocabulary of joy, accumulated being by being across every inch of white space.

This is the subconscious at its most natural. No agenda, no specific emotional weather, just the hand moving the way it has always moved, since long before anyone was watching. The dimension was always there. The bristol just gave it somewhere to land.
