The smallest indivisible unit of original creation. Formed by the collision of three creative forces — art, design, and a volatile third element. The third element changes — multimedia, literature, craft, architecture, sound — the structure holds. No two trixels share the same properties.

TRIXEL — ABOUT US

Trixel is a concept we created in 1996, in Barcelona, to define the basic building block of our creation philosophy. Rooted in triangulation thinking and an experiential approach, it stems from a human desire to play with ideas, with one another, and the world around us.

We launched in 1997 as a cyberpunk magazine — assembled on the move between San Juan and New York — with periodical drops of information, arts, and experiential happenings. The studio quickly became a multimedia lab, fluent in whatever form an idea asked for, collaborating with artists, technologists, brands, organizations, and friends.

Then we went into hibernation. Technology stopped being a frontier and became the air. Somewhere in that saturation, the signal started pulsing.

Now we restart in Brooklyn, and the address is part of the argument: a borough that still makes things by hand, in rooms, with neighbors. We make work for people, not platforms. We design as a civic act, art as common space, technology bent back toward the human hand that's supposed to hold it. That commitment isn't a posture here. It's the triangulation itself: a mind, another mind, and the shared world they're responsible for.

Trixel is — as always — an art and design studio. We're warming up with posters, because the form is democratic and idiosyncratic. We're pulling silkscreens, because the process forces us back into studio time. And we're releasing our one-of-a-kind pieces, because it's time.
