Part of The Trixel Alphabet, an ongoing project reinterpreting all 26 letters — plus & and @ — through original design language

Flip the palette and the whole piece changes weight. Here Mars Red takes the field, deep, dense, with a slight granular texture in the ink that catches the light and gives the background a quiet grain, almost like the surface is breathing. Gold Yellow sits on top of it, sharp and electric, every letterform lifted forward by the contrast.

It's the same alphabet as its counterpart, the same 26 characters plus & and @, but the reversal changes how the forms read. Where yellow-as-ground felt open and expansive, red-as-ground feels grounded and dense, the yellow letters seem to hover, almost glow, against that textured red. Minimal forms, optical illusions, and suggestive letterforms all still hold their own logic, but here they read with more intensity, more pull.

Hand-pulled, one layer at a time, on 250gsm Lenox 100, printed at the MGC Community Print Studio at PowerHouse Arts in Brooklyn. That granular quality in the red isn't a flaw in the process, it's the process itself showing through: ink, water, and pressure, left visible on the page, no two pulls are ever pixel-identical, which is part of why this exists as 1/1.
