trixel /ˈtrɪk.səl/ noun

The smallest indivisible unit of original creation. Formed by the collision of three elements: idea, matter, and a volatile third. The first two are constant. The third changes. The structure holds. No two trixels share the same properties.
Origin: in this sense, coined 1996 by Monica Gutierrez, Barcelona. From tri- (three) + -xel (element).

TRIXEL — ABOUT US

Trixel is an art and design studio in Brooklyn. We make work for people, not platforms.
We play with graphics, words, and materials both analog and digital. Ideas get sketched, argued over, pulled through screens, pushed through pixels. Some become editions. Some stay singular. The studio decides by conviction, not category.

Right now: posters, because the form is democratic and idiosyncratic. Hand-pulled silkscreens, because the process forces us back into studio time. And one-of-a-kind pieces, because it's time.

We collaborate with artists, technologists, brands, organizations, and friends. We make, co-create, and curate work we love.
We're just getting started.
